Children with statements for BESD/SEMH, usually in the North of the County, are referred to the school through the LA. Sometimes pupils from the South of the County, Leicester City or other local authorities are referred. If the school can meet the pupil's needs and there is a space in the appropriate year group, parents and carers are invited into the school:-
- To look round the provision and facilities available.
- For a pre-admissions meeting. At this meeting parents/carers can ask questions and an agreement (contract) is established regarding the role of both the school and parent/carers. This is carried out in order to help your child to settle into the rules, routines and structures of Maplefields. This meeting will also explain the basic school requirements such as school meals, uniform, break times, travel arrangements, curriculum content, etc. Other professionals as appropriate will also be invited to this meeting and the purpose is to share information related to the child, previous school, assessments and progress in order to support the child's integration in the best possible way. An admission date will be set together with a date for a post admission meeting to review the settling in period and targets set, usually about six weeks after admission.
For any further information please contact the School Office who will be pleased to put you in touch with the appropriate member of staff to help you.
