  • Maplefields Achieve Sporting Recognition

    Maplefields School Games Recognition Award

Throughout this year we have been working towards achieving our school games mark. Unfortunately, due to covid-19 and the amount of teaching time lost, the process has been delayed for the academic year. However, due to the exceptional work that had been achieved throughout year within PE, we have been provided with the School Games Recognition Award. This award has been given to schools who would have been likely to achieve recognition through the school games mark. This is awarded based on participation in SSP and district competition and broader engagement with the SSP. In order to achieve the school games mark, schools must meet expectations provided. We have met these by delivery a wide variety of sports across primary and secondary, introduced extra curriculum activities, including basketball and football and participated in competitive competitions with other schools within the county. Additionally, we have we have participated and won or at least been in the top two schools during the Northamptonshire Sport Virtual Games. These challenges have been completed by pupils in school as well as at home. It has been excellent to see involvement from pupils taking on these challenges! Another highlight of the Northamptonshire Virtual Games is that Maplefields have not only been winning the category for special schools within the county but have also been winning against all mainstream schools in the county. This is an outstanding achievement and a credit to our pupils for fully committing to the challenges. Although it is disappointing not to achieve the Gold School Games Mark for this year, we fully intend to achieve this next year…. Watch this space!!

  • Local Services to support Young People

    Fri 12 Jun 2020 P.Ijewsky

Ngage is a free and confidential substance support service for young people aged 10-18 in Northamptonshire. They remain open and still offering a support service to any and all young people who want information, education and/or guidance and support in regard to substance use.

They are an early intervention service and but do also offer after care through a youth engagement programme, Evolve. Where young people can participate in training, fundraising, volunteering and fun activities, in a safe and trusted environment.

As part of their work they are keen to hear the views and voices of young people across the county, particularly during these difficult times.  They have developed a survey for young people 10-18 years, that asks them about their substance use during the lockdown restrictions. This is designed to help identify problem areas and risk issues, such as pricing, availability and other changes occurring due to Covid-19.

The survey itself is anonymous. They are not storing identifiable data, but we would welcome as many responses as possible. Experience tells us that our main target audience has a mean age of 14-15 so year 10s are a key year group for us to engage with

  • Planning for our new class groups September 2020

    Wed 10 Jun 2020 P.Ijewsky

    Dear Parents, Carers and children,

The transition from one school year to the next is always an important time. Usually we would have events and activities planned at school to support this process. This year will have to be different so we have emailed out a letter and prepared a short video to help explain the how we hope the process will work.

Please have a look at the video and the letter. If you have any questions you can email or call us at school and we will do our best to support you.

    Kind regards, Mr Ijewsky
