  • Emergency Repairs COMPLETED!

    Sun 17 Dec 2017 Mr P. Ijewsky

We are extremely pleased to report that the emergency repairs to our school's electrical systems have been completed. Engineers worked on site until Saturday evening to ensure that the school could be ready to re-open for our children on Monday morning.

The electrical surge, which hits parts of Corby, had blown 16 circuit boards which controlled essential parts of the schools door and security systems. This left us with doors that wouldn't open and others that wouldn't lock. This clearly posed a serious safety risk for students and staff and we were advised that it was not safe to open the school for children.

Having worked around the clock, and having imported the replacement parts, our security services engineers at HALO have been fantastic in getting the school up and running so that we can enjoy the last three days of term.

Thank you again to all of our children and their families for the continued support during this most difficult time. I know we all hope for a trouble free end to the term and a wonderful start to the Christmas period.

    Kindest Regards and best wishes

Mr Ijewsky and all of the staff at Maplefields.

  • School Closure

Thu 14 Dec 2017 Mr Ijewsky

It is with great regret that we have been forced to close the school on Thursday and Friday. The problem was started by a major power failure in the Corby area which does appear to have caused widespread disruption. When staff arrived to school at the start of Thursday morning there was no power to any of the essential services including lighting, heating, telephone and IT services and all security systems.

We immediately began the process of evaluating the site and restoring systems where possible. Unfortunately, the failure of power has permanently damaged several key systems which now require replacement parts and installation before the site can be made safe. This work is currently underway and we are asking for the work to be completed so that we can re-open next week for the final three days of the school term.

We would like to thank parents and carers for their understanding and kind support. Your children's safety is our prime concern and this week has been disrupted firstly by the severe weather and now by the power failures which have made it impossible to provide a safe environment for reasons beyond our control. Please rest assured that we are undertaking every action possible to re-open the school for Monday.

    Kindest Regards
