The Parent/Carer Group

The parents/carers' group is led by the school social worker and meets regularly in school. The group meet socially and work on a variety of projects and activities to support our pupils' wellbeing and learning. They lead fundraising, organise gardening, helped with the Christmas concert and much more. From time to time they take part in courses to further develop their understanding of their child's development and needs and sometimes lead on themes for other parents/carers. For example, a parent spoke on food additives and the impact on children's behaviour. All parents/carers are welcome to join the group. Transport to and from school can be provided.

The parents/carers' group aims to encourage parents/carers to play an active part in the school community. It does this by:

  • Providing them with the opportunity to become involved in the education of their children
  • Enabling the parents/carers of Maplefields children and young people to meet together in formal and informal ways
  • Providing an interesting and relevant programme of topics for parents/carers to discuss within a constructive learning environment
  • Encouraging the parent/carers to be part of school life, also to raise funds as appropriate
  • Providing an opportunity for parents/carers to have a voice and be consulted on issues that affect the school

Social Work at Maplefields promotes:

  • Problem-solving in human relationships
  • Empowerment of people
  • Enhanced well-being
