Sportshall Athletics Festival
Wed 20 Jun 2018On June 20th Northgate School were invited to a Sportshall Athletics festival hosted by Maplefields School and their Young Leaders. Our children had a fantastic day! The young leaders were all friendly, polite and enthusiastic. They gave great demonstrations of each station in order for our children to visually see what the task involved and their communication skills were great, speaking to both our children and our staff. They undertook jobs including measuring the distance of jumps, timing various stations and collecting equipment to ensure there was a quick turnover in turn from one child to the next. Their confidence increased from the start of the day to the end and the leaders done a great job. They all knew their roles and they were very successful in delivering a cheerful, well run festival. Thank you to the Young Leaders, we look forward to working with you again

If you spot anything that's not working or needs reviewing please contact us via the school office and you can help make the site even better.
We've currently transferred most of the content from our old site over to this new one but we know there’s more we want to do with the new site so if you have ideas please do let us know.
Kind Regards

School Open
Sun 04 Mar 2018We are pleased to report that the warmer weather has thawed the snow and ice. The head teacher visited the Maplefields site on Sunday afternoon to find that the roads are safe to travel and the site is rapidly returning to normal. We expect that most of the snow will continue to melt overnight and by Monday the site will be largely clear.
We expect to see all staff and children as usual on Monday
Kind Regards.

School Closure - Friday 2nd March
Thu 01 Mar 2018Due to the continuing extreme weather conditions, the roads into school are getting even more difficult. The forecast is that it will remain well below freezing overnight and more snow is highly possible. We can not see any improvement will be likely and so in order to help families prepare we have taken the decision to remain closed tomorrow (Friday 2nd March).

School Closed 1st March 2018
Thu 01 Mar 2018Unfortunately Maplefields has been forced to close due to the conditions of the roads approaching the school site. Tower Hill Road is very icy and the final section into school is incredibly difficult. The forecast currently is very changeable but it is snowing at present and the roads conditions are very unlikely to improve, in fact they may become more difficult.
Due to concerns for the safety of children, parent & carers and school staff we have reluctantly closed today. We will assess the situation throughout the day and keep the website updated with latest news.

Emergency Repairs COMPLETED!
Sun 17 Dec 2017We are extremely pleased to report that the emergency repairs to our school's electrical systems have been completed. Engineers worked on site until Saturday evening to ensure that the school could be ready to re-open for our children on Monday morning.
The electrical surge, which hits parts of Corby, had blown 16 circuit boards which controlled essential parts of the schools door and security systems. This left us with doors that wouldn't open and others that wouldn't lock. This clearly posed a serious safety risk for students and staff and we were advised that it was not safe to open the school for children.
Having worked around the clock, and having imported the replacement parts, our security services engineers at HALO have been fantastic in getting the school up and running so that we can enjoy the last three days of term.
Thank you again to all of our children and their families for the continued support during this most difficult time. I know we all hope for a trouble free end to the term and a wonderful start to the Christmas period.
Kindest Regards and best wishes
Mr Ijewsky and all of the staff at Maplefields.
