Keeping our school healthy
Wed 11 Mar 2020We're working hard at school to keep our children healthy and safe. We are checking all of the latest advice and guidance from the government each day and will continue to update our school community as the advice develops.
Currently we are encouraging lots of hand washing with soap and water. We would encourage families to support this advice at home and help the children maintain good habits.
This is the link to the gov.uk website where you can find lots of information.
CLICK HERE . We encourage families to seek advice from the official websites.
Any important updates will be sent out on the website and via text or email.
Please make sure that we do have your most up to date contact details.

Maplefields Young Sports Leaders
Tue 26 Mar 2019Here at Maplefields we are very proud of our young people and all that they achieve. The Sports Leaders have increasingly worked with other schools to run events, coach and support other children and to be ambassadors for the Academy.
Here are a few of the feedback comments from the visiting school Leaders/Teachers:
“As a visiting school we were impressed with the level of professionalism shown by the sports leaders. All leaders knew what they were doing on each station and gave plenty of attention to those pupils that were struggling so they understood what they needed to do. The leaders represented their school fantastically well. Even when 1 leader took some time out as he was struggling himself the other leaders encouraged him to rejoin the team and finish his job, showing good teamwork. Well Done”
Jon – Northgate Academy
“ Thank you for today; our children really enjoyed it.
I would also like to say that we were impressed by the Sports Leaders who were assisting with the event. They were friendly and helpful and explained the events in a clear and appropriate way for the participants. They were also supportive and helped the less able to complete the events in a way that was suitable for them.” Thanks again
Kind Regards,
Sam Grisewood – Fairfields School
“With regard to your young leaders. I thought they were very polite and helpful. They explained the rules and workings of each event clearly. They all reported the scores/distances accurately making sure each event ran smoothly. They were all a credit to themselves and the school.”
Kind regards,”
Mark – Gateway School

Online Safety
Thu 28 Feb 2019Dear Parents and Carers,
You may have noticed that online safety is often in the National press, with warnings about the safety of young people and children. At Maplefields we work really hard with our students to help them understand the dangers they might face online and how to keep themselves safe. To support Parents and Carers we have added new content to the website with the latest information we have available.
If you have any questions or concerns about online safety, contact us at school and we will make every effort to support you and your families

Watching the Weather
Thu 17 Jan 2019As the weather turns colder and the news headlines warn of freezing conditions we wanted to take this opportunity to be clear about what we will do if we need to notify you regarding changes to the school day.
If we have snow or other extreme conditions the Headteacher will contact her local employees to assess the conditions at school. We also look at local news, traffic and weather reports to see if we can safely keep the school open for a normal school day. If we do decide that it is not safe to open or if the weather has caused problems on site we will use the school website as our first method of contact. The scrolling banner at the top of the page will give a clear message and further details will be added to the 'latest news' page.
We will also send text messages and an email to all parents using the contact you have supplied (Please do remember to let the school office know if your contact details require updating)
The school website will give ongoing updates about the situation.

Christmas Dinner
Wed 19 Dec 2018It has been a very busy term full of wonderful moments that you can read about in the December Newsletter. One far less wonderful moment was when we found a leak from the boiler room on Monday morning. The water had soaked through the ceiling and into the kitchen. We've fixed the leak and cleaned up the mess but it has limited what we have been able to prepare for school lunches. We had a lovely picnic om Monday and then the kitchen team have managed to get a hot meal prepared and served. Sadly the full Christmas Dinner will have to be postponed until the New Year when hopefully we will be back to full strength.
